Julian Bell is a Senior Consultant with SAC’s Rural Business Unit and specialises in the economics, feasibility and markets for agricultural and energy crops (grains, oilseeds, biofuels, AD, biomass). Recent projects include: feasibility studies on the use of farm feed-stocks in biogas production, co-ordination of AD energy crop trials in Scotland, feasibility of sourcing biomass for a distillery power plant in NE Scotland and development of harvesting methods for woody biomass for power generation in Cuba. He is also a member of the Scottish Biofuels Programme advising on energy crops. Before joining SAC, Julian was Senior Economist, Crop Marketing, HGCA where he oversaw analysis of UK and global cereal markets and farm business issues. Prior to this Julian worked in practical farm and forest management. Julian is an agriculture and forestry graduate from Edinburgh University and SAC Aberdeen.
