What are we looking for:

We are looking for an Editorial Manager to produce magazines and other editorial content for ADBA and WBA to the highest standards of quality, accuracy and appeal, as well as grow the editorial output across all of Orchard’s activities.  The aim of the role is to deliver editorial content that enhances our clients’ reputation as credible voices for the AD and biogas industry and promotes engagement in their activities. What will I be doing?

You'll be responsible for producing a quarterly magazine for ADBA and for managing the creation of an e- magazine for WBA, ensuring that these are engaging and authoritative, delivered on time and represent a high-value membership benefit.  You will also act as an ambassador for ADBA and WBA, attending events, engaging with key industry players and actively supporting the promotion of AD and biogas across all appropriate communication channels.  We would also want you to engage with future development and delivery of editorial output across all of Orchard’s activities, such as Cleantech Innovate.

Job scope:

Editorial

  • Produce editorial content for the ADBA monthly magazine
    • Identify stories of interest to members and generate engaging editorial content
    • Engage with stakeholders, attend events and write articles
    • Liaise with relevant ADBA teams to keep up-to-date with industry/membership news to be covered in the magazine
    • Support the PR and Parliamentary Affairs executive with the production of editorial for external use
  • Provide content for WBA publications / website
    • Attend events and produce reports for monthly e-newsletter / website
    • Liaise with relevant WBA teams to keep up-to-date with industry/membership news
    • Manage the development  and launch of a WBA  e-magazine
  • Support communications and marketing colleagues with content development (PR/social media/website/advertorials)
  • Manage website editorial pages
  • Provide editorial content for other Orchard activities as appropriate
  • Contribute to future overall editorial planning and delivery


Publishing

  • Supervise the production of ADBA magazine
    • liaise with relevant teams/editorial board to develop feature lists content
    • oversee flatplans development
    • Ensure content is engaging, accurate, grammatically correct, follows house style, and that photography/illustrations are of high quality and correctly captioned
    • Manage publishers, printers and other external suppliers
    • Manage transfer onto website and distribution
    • Conduct regular readership surveys to ensure content remains relevant to them
  • Supervise the production of WBA reports as required
  • Supervise the production of the ADBA Members’ Directory
     

WHAT WILL I NEED?

  • An essential interest in and enthusiasm for the global sustainability agenda
  • A belief in our mission and the will to make a difference
  • Education to degree level in journalism, publishing or communications
  • Excellent writing, copy-editing and proof-reading skills
  • At least two years’ editorial experience
  • Knowledge of and enthusiasm for the anaerobic digestion and biogas industry (or related – eg. renewable energy/cleantech/waste management/farming)
  • An ability to quickly understand and absorb industry developments, including financial aspects and report accurately
  • Experience in managing external publishers/designers
  • Experience in managing printers
  • Familiarity with online publishing tools
  • An authoritative, engaging and creative personality with an ambition to grow the editorial output
  • Confidence in building and maintaining relationships with senior industry leaders
  • An ability to work effectively against tight deadlines
  • Attention to details
  • An ability to work effectively within a team
  • A willingness to travel, both in the UK and abroad
