 Who we are looking for

We are looking for a Membership Manager to provide membership acquisition activities for one of the two associations that we currently manage, ADBA, ensuring a high level of member recruitment, retention and loyalty. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your membership, sales and account management experience within a membership environment and in a dynamic and fast-growing sector, and to join a passionate team on a mission to make a difference.

What will I be doing?

You will be responsible for the management and delivery of marketing activities focused on membership engagement throughout the year. Your core objective will be to support our client’s membership recruitment and renewal, as well as selling commercial solutions to new members.

Your key responsibilities will be to

  • Sell membership of the association to appropriate prospects
  • Working with existing members throughout the year
  • Own the annual membership renewal process
  • Sell exhibition, sponsorship, advertising and marketing solutions to members
  • Liaise with Marketing, Events and Policy teams to deliver member-only activities

Job scope:

Membership sales

  • Be the first point of contact for ADBA members
  • Ownership of membership recruitment (sales) process from lead to onboarding
    • Appropriate membership level
    • Agree appropriate payment terms
  • Ownership of annual membership renewal process
    • Plan and oversee renewal campaign
    • Work with Marketing and Accounts to ensure most effective renewal campaign

Media sales

  • Sell advertising spaces in Members Directory
  • Accurately manage, develop and report on sales pipeline across the portfolio of events and online/offline activities using the CRM and reporting systems
  • Provide commercial campaign solutions to association members (within your remit) who want to engage with the AD and biogas industry in the UK and internationally (typical sales value between £1,000-£30,000)

Membership and Media activities

  • Liaise with the Marketing and Policy teams to deliver value to association members, clients and key stakeholders
  • Lead on the organisation of member-only events, liaising with Events, Marketing and Policy teams
  • Ensure knowledge of ADBA’s engagement platforms (including pricing, benefits and special concessions
    • Attend events/exhibitions as appropriate
    • Other relevant tasks as required

What will I need?

An essential interest in sustainability, plus:

  • A belief in our mission and the will to make a difference
  • Previous experience in membership or sponsorship sales in B2B or within a membership organisation
  • Target- and results-driven
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (both verbal and written) when interacting with C-suite level individuals
  • Confident sales negotiator
  • Ability to maintain high standards of customer service and delivery
  • Ability to quickly understand and absorb industry developments and how they will affect members
  • Excellent IT and organisational skills
  • Experience of using a CRM to maintain membership records
  • Team player, enthusiastic and self-motivated
  • Ability to multi-task, take the initiative and develop own ideas
  • Prepared to travel, both in the UK and abroad
