Kirk secures first AD project in Southern Thailand

ADBA MEMBER PRESS RELEASE

KIRK GROUP has secured their first anaerobic digestion (AD) project in the Chumporn district, Southern Thailand. The two sister companies, BIODOME® ASIA and BIODOME® INTERNATIONAL, will work together to deliver the project, providing the client with the expertise and knowledge required to complete a state-of-the-art AD plant.

The plant will treat palm oil mill effluent (POME) produced from the milling of fresh fruit bunches, on average around 60 tonnes per hour, to produce renewable energy used to power the plant itself. KIRK GROUP will design, supply and install two hybrid bolted digester tanks, both complete with the industry-leading BIODOME® double membrane roof. The main body of the digester tanks will be constructed from Trico-Bond™ epoxy coating, combining chemical resistance with exceptional physical properties in a thermally cured tank lining system. The top rings of the digester tanks will be constructed from glass-fused-to-steel, the only tank finish where two materials are fused together to achieve the best of both: the strength and flexibility of the steel together with the corrosion resistance of the glass.

The BIODOME® double membrane roof uses the highest strength membrane available in the global market, making it suitable for a wide range of working gas pressures, storage volumes and gas production rates.

The project is set to commence in August 2013 and will take approximately one month to complete. Thailand has seen some very promising projects within the renewable energy sector with more than 200 biogas plants already in place. We are looking forward to completing our first project in the area, entering a new and exciting market.

BIODOME® ASIA’s recently completed the installation of a glass-fused-to-steel tank in Bintulu, Malaysia, adding to their ever increasing number of completed projects in the Asian market.
