Biomethane: The Pathway to 2030 – Report Launch
PARLIAMENTARY LAUNCH RECEPTION

We only have a decade to halve carbon emissions, it is time we start listening to the solutions.

We would like to invite ADBA members to the parliamentary launch of the ADBA report Biomethane: The Pathway to 2030.

In the decade of decarbonisation, biomethane through AD has the potential to deliver a 6% reduction of total UK GHG emissions. The Committee on Climate Change has described biomethane as the no regrets option for the hardest to decarbonise sectors. Heat, transport, agriculture and waste management can be decarbonised with the help of AD – a ready to use technology. If we are to limit the global temperature rise below 1.5°C and avoid the worst consequences of climate change, changes to energy systems, changes to the way we manage land, changes to the way we move around with transportation are required.

The new report of the Anaerobic Digestion and Bioresources Association (ADBA) sets out a vision for the next 10 years for a future circular economy with anaerobic digestion at its heart, where waste is understood as a valuable bioresource. It considers the pathway to achieve the industry’s potential to contribute to net zero within this decade. The launch event provides stakeholders and Parliamentarians with the opportunity of coming together to listen to the report’s findings, discuss climate change solutions and establish vital relationships in the climate emergency.

2020 and COP26 will shape the next decade, and with it, our future. Join us to shape it in favour of our natural environment.
