Topic: Separate food waste collections: How are they working in Northern Ireland?

Bio: Martin has 20 years’ experience in the waste management sector, ranging from environmental monitoring on landfills through to policy development within the ReNEW the Circular Economy sector in NI and across Europe. He has worked for Belfast for the lion’s share of this time helping transform the city’s recycling rate from 3% to over 40%. His most recent campaign relating to food waste has resulted in an initial 4% swing in the council’s recycling rate. He continues to have close contact with colleagues in academia, industry and other sectors of government exploring how NI’s current waste problems can be turned into opportunities for economic growth and job creation.
