Overview

As a further demonstration to our commitment to cleaner, greener and more sustainable energy, Energia Group’s new €50 million bioenergy facility at Huntstown in Dublin will have the ability to accept up to 100,000 tonnes of waste per annum from the Greater Dublin Area – and convert that waste into electricity.

The plant will process waste into renewable biogas, and use this to generate electricity for homes and businesses throughout Ireland. Organic fertiliser, a by-product from some of the waste processed by the facility, will be used to enrich the soil of our island.

The bioenergy plant at Huntstown in Dublin is a state of the art 4.0 megawatt anaerobic digestion facility, which will process up to 100,000 tonnes of organic municipal waste from the Dublin region. At present is at an advanced stage of construction and will produce c32GWh of green renewable electricity on an annual basis.

Converting brown bin waste to usable energy is just one more way that Energia is innovating to deliver on demand energy through cleaner, renewable technologies and support a better environment for all.
