AD industry and academia work together to define the strategy

ADBA PRESS RELEASE

The who’s who of anaerobic digestion and biogas research and development meet today (6 Nov) to define a strategy to focus R&D investment at the ADBA R&D Forum, Bristol.

The one day event has been organised by ADBA in partnership with WRAP, the Environmental Sustainability and Biosciences KTNs and Fera. It includes presentations from the WRAP Driving Innovation in AD projects being taken through from feasibility to development stage, explanations of how to get the most out of R&D tax credits, an introduction to the EU Environmental Technology Verification and facilitated workshops to formulate the R&D strategy for the AD industry.

Charlotte Morton, Chief Executive, ADBA:

AD is proven technology with huge potential but lack of certainty and government focus has held back the industry’s development and in the current financial and political climate the incentives available for AD are only going to decrease in future.

If the industry is to produce a high enough return on investment to attract funders it must focus on optimising process efficiency and maximising the amount and the quality of its outputs.

“In order to do this successfully we need prioritised R&D goals and objectives. Recognising this we decided to work with our members and the wider industry to put together an AD R&D Strategy to help drive focused AD research and development and identify and fill gaps in knowledge, avoid repetition, provide better return on investment and allow better exploitation of existing knowledge.

The ADBA R&D Forum has been designed to bring the relevant people together to work to ensure that the industry gets the answers it needs now and in the future.
