ADBA member SEaB Energy wins Best Micro AD project at industry awards

ADBA MEMBER PRESS RELEASE

SEaB Energy received the award for ‘Best Micro AD project’ for its onsite containerised small-scale AD solution the MUCKBUSTER SEaB MB400.

Developed as part of a partnership between The University of Southampton Science Park and SEaB Energy the feedstock for the plant is made up from the food waste, cooking oil and spent alcoholic drinks collected from Chilworth Manor Hotel, situated within the Science Park and the green waste from the Science Park.

The MUCKBUSTER SEaB MB400 runs a 8kW CHP un it and produces an average 46 cubic meters of biomethane per day. The MUCKBUSTER SEaB MB400 delivers valuable electricity into the adjacent Kenneth Dibben office building, heat into a research and development organisation facility and liquid digestate onto the landscaped grounds.

In overall terms the installation offsets electricity and heat costs, reduces waste disposal costs and positions the contributing partners as collaborators enhancing resource management and sustainability. Economically, the MUCKBUSTER® SEaB MB400 has a payback within four years.

Sandra Sassow, SEaB Energy, Chief Executive said

The 2012 ADBA event showed dramatic growth in the market uptake of our micro AD product – MUCKBUSTER. We were delighted to share our expertise in chairing the conference session on Integrating AD for the food and drink industry, presenting the business benefits of MUCKBUSTER in multiple forums and meeting many key organisations at our exhibition stand. Micro-AD is taking off and as the global market leader, we are excited about the customer response to our game-changing technology.

The UK AD & Biogas 2012 Industry Awards, hosted by The Anaerobic Digestion and Biogas Association (ADBA), was held alongside the industries annual exhibition and conference UK AD & Biogas 2012 on 4-5 July at the NEC Birmingham. Showcasing why AD is the missing link to achieving maximum waste and resource management, climate-smart farming and sustainable food production, this event has shown not only how beneficial the integration of AD can be but how it can be most successfully achieved.
