BEIS – Feed-In Tariffs (Amendment) (Coronavirus) Order 2020

On Monday 30th March, BEIS laid The Feed-In Tariffs (Amendment) (Coronavirus) Order 2020. The explanatory memorandum  extends the final accreditation date. The scheme is closed but other technologies including Anaerobic Digestion (with a declared net capacity over 50kW) still had time to accredit.

Amendment Purpose: To provide small-scale renewable electricity generators with extra time to apply for accreditation under the Feed-In Tariffs scheme following unavoidable delays in commissioning their projects caused by the Coronavirus pandemic.

Amendment: This new legislation offers an extension until 30 September specifically targeted at projects that are likely to miss deadlines falling in the period 1 March – 31 March 2020 due to the impact of the Coronavirus. It also offers a six month extension to projects whose deadlines fall in the period 1 April – 30 September 2020. Further extensions may be considered if they are necessary.
