Imtech gains Ros Roca IPR and know-how transfer prior to UK AD & Biogas 2014

UK AD & BIOGAS SPONSOR NEWS

As part of its continued progression and development of new business streams and sectors, Imtech Water, Waste and Energy has recently acquired ownership of the intellectual property rights and know-how for the waste treatment processes and references of eight Ros Roca installations. Imtech has been working with Ros Roca on joint venture projects for five years and this has forged close ties between the companies. The acquired references include projects across Europe including Spain, Austria, Portugal and the UK.

Having secured the IPR, Imtech is exclusively permitted to use Ros Roca’s waste treatment processes, and the company’s reference sites around Europe. In addition to the actual process and technology rights, following completion of existing projects at Ros Roca, there are also new staff members from Ros Roca joining Imtech’s Waste and Energy team, bringing with them a wealth of experience in this sector.

Imtech has worked in partnership with Ros Roca, on such projects as the Biffa Waste Services’ 120 ktpa source segregated organic waste anaerobic digestion scheme at Cannock, and Shanks Waste Management’s 65ktpa organic fraction of municipal solid waste anaerobic digestion plant for the Wakefield Council municipal contract. The Imtech Ros Roca Joint Venture will conclude the Wakefield contract together. However, moving forward on new projects, Imtech will contract alone. The two company’s closeness is reflected in this recent ownership transfer, with the agreement signed off this week prior to UK AD & Biogas 2014 organised by ADBA.

Bruno Speed, Managing Director at Imtech Water, Waste and Energy said:

It’s great for both parties. Imtech is able to use the knowledge and know-how developed by Ros Roca, in conjunction with our own vast experience and technological expertise, to strengthen our offering in this area, while Ros Roca can concentrate and pursue its own future strategy in this sector.
