MEMBER PRESS RELEASE: Air Liquide and Puregas join forces to develop European biogas market

Air Liquide and Puregas Solutions have signed an agreement to access their respective biogas upgrading technologies. This collaboration allows the two experts to provide biogas upgrading solutions that meet customers’ needs and specific projects’ characteristics. The agreement uses the synergies of Air Liquide and Puregas Solutions and is complementary to the offers of both companies in equipment sales, maintenance and service.

Air Liquide and Puregas Solutions commissioned a first joint membrane upgrading unit in Rybjerg, in northern Denmark, with a capacity of 900Nm3/h of biogas from agricultural waste.

The upgraded biogas will typically be used for vehicle fuelling (Bio-NGV). Air Liquide has developed technologies and expertise that span the entire biomethane value chain. Through its subsidiary FordonsGas, the Group owns a biomethane liquifier and a network of 48 natural biogas refuelling stations for Bio-NGVs covering south western Sweden. The collaboration with Puregas Solutions also allows Air Liquide to continue its biogas development in the Nordic countries.

With over 20 years of experience, Puregas Solutions manufactures and supplies Biogas Upgrading Plants. The unique CApure upgrading process recovers over 99.9% of the available methane from the raw biogas, maximising biomethane yields and revenues with exceptionally low operational costs. Puregas provides fully integrated solutions for biogas upgrading and has over 30 plants already operating.
