Topic

The webinar covers the principles of anaerobic digestion and how they are applied in different market sectors. It will explain the different parts of the process including the equipment involved and the underlying biochemistry resulting in the production of renewable energy and organic fertiliser.

Following the introduction the presentation will detail the engineering aspects of an anaerobic digestion plant highlighting the diversity of disciplines involved in a project. This will be presented with practical examples relating the objectives of each engineering task to the impact on the final product and its operation.

Speaker

Dr Amaya Arias-Garcia is a process engineer and project manager with over 15 years of experience in developing and implementing engineering solutions in the environmental sector. She currently works as technical director at Goals Project Management and Engineering Support Ltd.

Amaya has been involved in the UK waste and agricultural anaerobic digestion industry since its inception and has worked in a number of roles from consultant and project engineer to project manager. She has collaborated in the building of over 10 anaerobic digestion plants in the UK and understands the processes, the legislation and policies as well as the commercial requirements to make a project work.  

Format

A one-hour online session: 40 minutes' presentation + 20 minutes' Q&A.
Duration (for CPD recording purposes): up to one hour.
