MEMBER’S PRESS RELEASE: ReFood orders second gas-to-grid plant from Greenlane

Greenlane Biogas has received a multi-million pound contract from ReFood Ltd, part of the SARIA Group, to supply and install a ‘Totara’ biogas-to-biomethane upgrading plant at a new food waste processing site under development in Dagenham, Essex, UK.

The contract is the second to be placed by ReFood for Greenlane’s water-wash upgrading equipment. The system has many similarities to the first one, operating on ReFood’s site in Widnes since summer 2014. From its earliest days that plant was dubbed as one of the most efficient of its type in Europe.

The ‘Totara’ unit in Dagenham will output up to 2000 Nm3/hr of biomethane to the national gas grid.

Greenlane’s Director of Engineering, Glenn Mercer says:

The ability of the Greenlane water-wash system to treat the high levels of contaminants, inherent in the biogas from most food waste, is a prime reason to be confident that the Dagenham project will match and even exceed the operating and commercial benefits to the customer of the successful Widnes plant.

We are delighted to be working with ReFood once again. It speaks for itself as a good testimonial for our technology and service.

For ReFood, Commercial Director, Philip Simpson says:

We are proud of our food waste processing site at Widnes and the Greenlane upgrading system within it. We are looking forward to achieving the same success with our Dagenham project.
