PRESS RELEASE: Natural Gas Vehicle Network joins anaerobic digestion trade association

The Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV) Network has become a member of the Anaerobic Digestion & Bioresources Association (ADBA), the UK’s trade body for AD. 

The NGV Network promotes natural gas vehicles as a transport solution to accelerate development of the NGV industry and to encourage increased use of natural gas (both Liquid Natural Gas – LNG and Compressed Natural Gas – CNG) and biomethane as low-emission transport fuels. 

AD converts organic wastes and energy crops into valuable resources including biomethane, which can be used as a low-cost and low-carbon fuel for heavy vehicles such as buses and HGVs. The UK has close to 100 AD plants already producing biomethane with dozens more being built, and the whole UK AD industry has sufficient capacity today to produce enough biomethane to power 80% of the UK’s entire bus fleet and the potential to produce enough biomethane to power 75% of all HGVs in the UK.  

NGVN Chief Executive Mike Foster said: 

We are delighted to become members of ADBA. We look forward to working with them in championing natural gas as a transport fuel for HGVs and the only sensible choice for fleet operators. As a leading trade association we will do all we can to support them.

The NGV Network joins over 400 existing ADBA members, who include AD operators, AD developers, AD equipment providers, water companies, farmers, food and drink retailers, waste companies, and universities.
