Purac Puregas receive Royal seal of approval

ADBA MEMBER PRESS RELEASE

His Majesty the King of Sweden attended the official opening of Purac Puregas’ new state of the art European manufacturing facilities in Kalmar, Sweden, on Wednesday 28 November 2012.

His Majesty was very keen to learn more about biogas production and biogas upgrading, and see Puracs expertise first-hand. Formally welcomed by Peter Hjelm, chief executive, Läckeby Water Group, His Majesty toured the new facilities, and was especially impressed with the work in progress on a 1,600Nm3/h biogas upgrading plant.

Explaining the advantages of the company’s third generation of the CApure ™ chemical adsorption plants, Jan Molin, managing director, Läckeby Water Group, said:

More than 99.9% of the biomethane contained in biogas can be recovered, which is beneficial not only for the environment, but also for the customer, who sees increased sales returns from biomethane for vehicle fuel or for injection into the gas grid.

The visitors were also impressed by the low power consumption of the process, as well as the unique vacuum option, which allows district heating (or in some cases heat recovered from a CHP) to be used as the primary energy source.

Peter Hjelm, chief executive, Läckeby Water Group said:

It is, of course, a great honour for us at Purac Puregas that his Majesty’s great interest in environmental issues has led to this landmark visit. He often passes Kalmar in the summer on the way to his summer residence Soliden at Öland, and his visit here has made us all very proud.

The new production facilities will help enable growth across Europe and the UK especially.
