Richard Barker joins ADBA board

Richard Barker, chief executive of BiogenGreenfinch, has been announced as the latest member of the ADBA board.

BiogenGreenfinch, based in Bedfordshire, is one of the UK’s leading integrated designer, builder, owner and operators of food waste AD plants. The company has a proven track record having built 14 AD facilities for both the farm and food waste AD sectors, including three food waste AD facilities with a combined capacity of 90,000 tonnes per year. This success and knowledge, coupled with Mr Barker’s personal experience raising finance, puts him in an excellent position to serve on the ADBA board and help deliver a secure and financially robust future for AD.

The role of AD in both the food waste and farming sectors is set to dramatically expand, and it is vital that the industry is properly represented in order to ensure that the sector fulfills its potential.

ADBA Chairman Lord Redesdale welcomed Mr Barker’s appointment, saying,

His experience in designing, financing, building and operating AD plants is exceptional, and will help the Association move the industry forward.

 

The strategy which government and industry set in the near future will have huge consequences for the development of anaerobic digestion in the UK, so this is a crucial time.

 

ADBA will act as the voice of the industry in this work, and Richard will be a huge asset in achieving an outcome which allows the AD sector to flourish.

Mr Barker is a graduate of Brasenose College, Oxford, and started his career in Management Consultancy and Investment Banking. Before joining BiogenGreenfinch he was Chief Executive of aluminium recycling business Recovco.
