MEMBER PRESS RELEASE – Deadline nears for student award grant programme

The deadline for entries into the Climate Change Thought Leadership Award for students is on the horizon, with the application window closing on 2 June 2023.

Undergraduates, postgraduates and PhD students are all eligible to enter the award which is run by Privilege Finance. Candidates are required to complete a dissertation or research project focusing on solutions that contribute towards reducing climate change and carbon emissions.

A £1,000 cash prize and a mentoring opportunity, which includes a tour of an anaerobic digestion plant and 12-months’ worth of networking opportunities through Privilege Finance’s network of contacts, will be available to two successful candidates.

Privilege Finance’s marketing manager, Stevie Leeks, explains the award is to encourage the younger generation into the renewables sector and showcase the career opportunities available. “According to University College London, the renewable energy sector has the potential to create up to 150,000 jobs by 2030. Those who apply for the award are the generation who will be fulfilling these roles and supporting the future of renewable energy”, she says. It’s key that we support young professionals during the first stages of their journey into renewables by offering them the opportunity to network with those already working within the industry.
