Members urge MPs to sign ADBA pledge card
Many ADBA members have already written to their local Member of Parliament or parliamentary candidate, inviting them to visit their company or plant.
For those who have not yet been in touch with their local MP, however, we encourage you to do so because this will help us as the industry’s trade body to engage MPs on our primary objective: securing key manifesto pledges. Please find some suggested text here which you may consider using in an approach to your local MP, whose contact details can be found at: www.parliament.uk/mps-lords-and-offices/mps/
It is essential that we all engage our political representatives ahead of the General Election to lobby hard for the outcomes that our industry needs to continue to flourish. You are the best people to engage your future MPs! It is for very important that members engage with the local candidates vying to represent your company or site(s) – not only is this an opportunity to raise awareness of AD at a political level through a site visit, but this could also be a fantastic PR opportunity for your business (and for the candidate).
When approaching your candidates, the pledge card will provide a useful tool to engage politicians who might otherwise be unaware of AD and its numerous benefits. By returning signed pledge cards to us, we can use these to:
- hold individual MPs to account on their pledges;
- outline the degree of parliamentary support for AD to party leaders; and
- influence potential coalition government negotiations in the wake of the General Election.
Do please keep us updated on your progress and if we can be of any assistance please do not hesitate to get in touch with our Parliamentary Affairs Manager, Derek Sivyer.
