AD’s £40m chance to solve global challenges

When it comes to global poverty reduction, the UK government is putting its money where its mouth is. As part of its commitment to spend 0.7% of UK GDP on global poverty reduction and other global challenges, the government has launched a call to research projects that can make a global impact on agriculture, food production and clean energy. £40m of a total of £1.5bn is being made available.

AD should be ideally placed to access this funding. For example, AD can provide clean energy to off-grid rural communities. AD could make use of semi-arid land to grow crops producing huge amounts of energy. AD could help treat seaweed washing up on islands. So this is a great opportunity to make it happen.

Round four of the Energy Catalyst has also opened.

The Research and Innovation Hub at UK AD & Biogas will have speakers and members of the Anaerobic Digestion Network available to answer questions and build collaborations to make funding bids. We are currently receiving papers for the Hub. Details are here.
