Training | LDAR and Methane Slippage Compliance and Awareness

11 September, 2025 9:00AM - 12:30PM

Venue: Online

Overview

Presented by Rob Griffiths of OSS Enviro, this session explores LDAR (Leak Detection and Repair) services within the Biogas industry, aiming to educate attendees on the associated benefits, regulations, and reporting requirements.

With over 13 years of experience in LDAR and Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) operations, OSS Enviro is recognized as a leading provider of LDAR products and services across the UK and Europe.

The training course will cover key regulatory frameworks, including BS EN 17628, BS EN 15446, and relevant sections of Biological Waste Treatment: Appropriate Measures for Permitted Facilities. Attendees will gain insight into best practices, recommended equipment, and methods for quantification, while also learning how to meet the reporting standards required for permitted Anaerobic Digestion (AD) plants.

The course will provide detailed information on:

  • OGI camera technology and leak detection results
  • Conditions for accurate monitoring and expected outcomes for detected fugitive emissions
  • How to interpret and communicate findings effectively

Additionally, the session will include typical report examples, guidance on managing expectations around LDAR, and an overview of the qualifications typically held by LDAR operators responsible for compiling these reports.

Learning outcome

By the end of this training course, attendees will have a clear understanding of what can—and should—be achieved through the completion of an LDAR survey conducted by certified professionals.

The focus will be on demonstrating the full potential of LDAR, not only as an information-gathering tool but also as a critical method for enabling effective corrective maintenance.

Participants—including plant owners, operators, engineers, and other responsible personnel—will come away with a solid appreciation of LDAR as an essential strategy for:

  • Reducing emissions
  • Minimizing environmental impact
  • Protecting employee health
  • Lowering operational costs

Ultimately, attendees will recognize LDAR as a simple yet highly effective approach to improving both environmental compliance and operational efficiency.

Who is it for?

This session is designed for all individuals involved in the operation and management of Anaerobic Digestion (AD) plants, including:

  • Plant operators
  • Plant owners
  • Environmental managers
  • Health and safety team members
  • Engineers and technical staff

Anyone responsible for plant performance, environmental compliance, or worker safety will benefit from this training.

Methane and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are easily trackable and detectable—and, when LDAR is carried out properly, safely, and thoroughly, these emissions can be effectively identified and eliminated as hazards, reducing both environmental and health risks.
