ADBA Northern Ireland Conference 2025

23 September, 2025 9:00AM - 6:00PM

Venue: ICC Belfast

Unlocking Biogas to Energise Northern Ireland’s Future

Northern Ireland’s anaerobic digestion (AD) and biomethane sector holds transformative potential for clean energy, smarter nutrient management, rural economic growth, and meaningful climate action. Yet despite strong recognition of its promise, progress has stalled, meaning many projects remain undeveloped and momentum has faded since the milestone first gas grid injection at Granville Eco Park.

This one-day conference is a timely response — a chance to reset, reconnect, and reignite the sector as the Assembly starts to draft policy to accelerate biomethane production in Northern Ireland.

With the theme “Unlocking Biogas to Energise Northern Ireland’s Future,” the event brings together farmers, AD operators, developers, policy makers, investors, and technology leaders to chart a path from vision to delivery.

What to Expect:
  • Hear from Northern Ireland-based AD and biomethane projects leading the way

  • Explore the challenges and solutions  in planning, permitting and nutrient management

  • Learn how other regions are scaling biogas to benefit agriculture and the economy

  • Understand how to make AD projects investable

  • Discover how to optimise plant performance and operational efficiency

The day will close with a sector-wide roundtable, gathering input on shared priorities and clear asks for government, industry, and finance.

Come and join us at the ADBA Northern Ireland Conference on 23 September. Whether you’re just starting out or already operational, this is your chance to reconnect with the bigger picture — and help shape the next chapter for AD and biomethane in Northern Ireland.

We are also hosting a sites visit to local AD plants on Monday 22 September – see section ‘AD Plant Site Visits’ for more information.
