Electrical Safety Awareness

Introduction
The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 requires that any employees required to work on or near electrical systems must be competent. This is defined in HSE guidance as having the suitable training, skills and knowledge for the task to prevent injury to themselves and others.

Course Attendees
This course is suitable for all persons working on or near electrical systems or those with responsibility for the safety of others.

Course Programme
The trainer, Keith Brown, will educate you on elements of legislation, HSE guidance and technical policy from the IET (formerly the Institute of Electrical Engineers) and other professional bodies. It covers the following areas:

  • Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
  • Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations
  • PPE and test equipment requirements
  • Electricity at Work Regulations 1989

Training Certification and Assessment

Delegates will be assessed through a practical demonstration followed by a written examination. On successful completion of both elements, delegates will receive an SSG course attendance certificate which is valid for three years.
