Overview
United Utilities is the UK’s largest listed water business owning and operatingg the water and wastewater network in the North West of England. The company has: 100 water treatment works; 42,000 kilometres of water pipes; 575 wastewater treatment works; over 75,000 kilometres of sewers; and serving some seven million people. UU generates over 100 GWh of renewable energy from the digestion of sewage sludge using 46 CHP engines, and is investing in advanced digestion techniques.
