Biomethane Grid Injection
The course will provide an understanding of opportunities and the means by which biogas manufactured from waste can be upgraded to make biomethane and to meet the various standards for entry into the existing gas supply network – this is to displace the equivalent quantity of fossil gas and hence support Net Zero initiatives. The course will also explain how the value of biomethane sold into the market (and support from the Green Gas Support Scheme) generates an income stream.
Themes: fundamentals, grid companies, rules, engineering, unit, operations, revenues and Ofgem, future outlook, Q&A
Trainer: Iain Ward, a chartered engineer who project managed on the UK’s first biomethane-to-grid project and has been closely involved with about 40 BtG projects ever since.
LDAR and Methane Slippage Compliance and Awareness
Join this session, to explore LDAR (Leak Detection and Repair) services within the Biogas industry, the associated benefits, regulations and reporting requirements. Gain insight into best practices, recommended equipment and methods for quantification, while also learning how to meet the reporting standards required for permitted Anaerobic Digestion (AD) plants.
This training will cover Optical Gas Imaging and Quantitative Optical Gas Imaging, quantification, the benefits of Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) on plant operations, the current UK legislation requirements and European methane directive.
Trainer: Rob Griffiths, OSS Enviro, in collaboration with Opgal. Rob Griffiths is a leading voice in emissions monitoring and environmental compliance, with a strong track record of helping organisations meet regulatory standards while improving operational efficiency.
DSEAR
This half day session will explain compliance to the legal duties DSEAR places on employers. It includes risk assessment and application of controls to mitigate risks. You will learn to understand controls and identify ATEX equipment.
Themes: regulatory requirements, terminology, DSEAR obligations, sources of guidance, reducing risk, equipment for use in hazardous areas.
Trainer: David Woolgar BSc CEng MIGEM MEI MCIWEM
David is a chartered gas engineer with over 30 years’ experience in design and operation of anaerobic digestion plants and gas engineering. He is also on Institution of Gas Engineers technical panel updating gas safety guidance.
