Action plan update shows progress, but more to do
Defra has released its annual assessment of the Government’s Anaerobic Digestion Strategy and Action Plan, which was launched in 2011.
ADBA’s Chief Executive, Charlotte Morton, commented:
ADBA has been pleased to work with government, our members and industry partners to deliver the AD Strategy.
While the industry has developed strongly over the past few years, there are clearly still barriers to further progress – in particular the very low availability of source segregated collections for households in England, and the economic viability of smaller scale onsite plants.
The Strategy update is also clear that Defra will be looking again at industry regulation – we look forward to working with them, and are actively seeking to develop an industry-led approach to improving standards.
