MEMBER PRESS RELEASE: Balmoral Tanks moves into services sector with acquisition
One of Europe’s leading tank manufacturing companies, Balmoral Tanks, has acquired a majority shareholding stake in Tamworth-based Water Environmental Treatment Ltd (W.E.T) to fast-track its move into the legionella compliance and water industry services market.
The figure involved in the deal was not disclosed but Balmoral said it will retain the current management and workforce of 25, fully integrating W.E.T into the company structure.
Established in 1992, W.E.T operates throughout the UK and has been providing legionella sampling and risk assessments, water hygiene monitoring services, tank cleaning and remedial works since the first edition of ACoP L8 was published by the HSE in 1991.
W.E.T currently provides services to 2000 sites UK-wide for blue chip organisations including NHS trusts, county councils, schools, care homes, housing associations and property management companies.
Balmoral Tanks, part of Aberdeen-based Balmoral Group Holdings Ltd, has earned a global reputation for providing an industry-leading portfolio of liquid storage and treatment products including epoxy coated and concrete tanks and has installations on major projects spanning Europe, North and South America, the Middle and Far East.
The company’s new £10m purpose designed factory in South Yorkshire opened in January 2018 and houses a state-of-the-art epoxy coating line and in-line shot blasting as well as the latest laser cutting technology and fabrication facilities.
Allan Joyce, managing director at Balmoral Tanks, said:
Our stake in W.E.T provides a platform to extend our service offering to our global client base. To date in 2018 almost one third of our UK manufactured products have been exported around the world.
We have known the management team at W.E.T for many years and admire the way in which they have built an excellent reputation. The core values of their business are very much aligned with Balmoral and we look forward to building on their strengths and taking the company forward.
I am delighted that the team at W.E.T will continue to run the business on a day to day basis as their knowledge and experience is highly valued.
The acquisition underpins Balmoral’s strategy of differentiation in the market place. Our ambition of being the number one tank design, manufacturing and services company in the world has been strengthened with the ability to provide a range of water treatment services and we look forward to an increasingly exciting future for the company.
With improved and highly efficient manufacturing processes and a commitment to personnel development we consistently deliver on our brand promise of being ‘not just another tank company’.
