MEMBER PRESS RELEASE – Last chance to apply for Energy from Waste Innovation Fund
The Energy from Waste Innovation Fund, an award open to undergraduate and postgraduate students whose dissertation focuses on energy from waste, renewable energy technology or engineering, will close for applications on Friday 28 February.
Chris Winward, commercial director at Privilege Finance who launched the award, explains that the fund is about attracting new talent into the renewables industry. “We’ve recently seen some disheartening statistics with the Office of National Statistics reporting a decline of more than 11,000 people employed in the low carbon and renewable energy economy from 2014 to 2018 .We don’t believe this to be the full picture and want to promote that there is continued growth and career opportunities in the sector.”
“As a business Privilege Finance has expanded year-on-year for the last 5 years, both in terms of the amount we are lending to finance new energy from waste projects and the size of our team.”
Chris explains that Privilege Finance want to encourage talented students who have chosen to focus on energy from waste technologies as part of their research while studying. “These people are the future of the industry and as the UK needs to step up its game in terms of responding to the climate crisis, we want to showcase the opportunities for new talent entering the sector,” he says.
The winner will receive £1,000, while two runners up will each receive £750. Both the winner and runners up will benefit from the opportunity to receive mentoring from the Privilege Finance team over a period of 12 months.
Details on the award and how to apply can be found here.
