MEMBER’S PRESS RELEASE – Greenlane Biogas notches up its 100th order for biogas upgrading systems
Manufacturer of biogas-to-biomethane upgrading plant, Greenlane Biogas is celebrating the commencement of supply of its 100th system for a site in the UK. The company, a member of Pressure Technologies plc, is the world’s largest manufacturer of such systems, with sites operating around the world in more than 20 countries.
Established nearly 30 years ago, Greenlane has been responsible for supplying the first biogas upgrading plants in Brazil, Canada, France, Japan, Sweden and the UK, among others.
In 2008 in Northern Germany, the company completed what was, at the time, the largest biogas upgrading plant in the world, capable of outputting 10,000 Nm3/hr of purified, pipeline quality biomethane. This was superseded as the world’s largest in 2014 by a plant in Montreal, Canada which has a gas throughput capacity of 16,000 Nm3/hr – also supplied by Greenlane.
The 100th plant is somewhat more modest in scale at 2,000 Nm3/hr. But the company views it as a welcome sign of the renewal of the biogas sector in the UK. In common with many recent projects in which Greenlane has been involved, the resulting biomethane will be injected into the national gas grid.
Stephen McCulloch, Managing Director of Greenlane Biogas’ European operating company, based in Sheffield, UK says:
“From a look through the list of systems supplied – and the diversity of the sites and conditions in which they operate – it is evident what a pioneering company Greenlane has been in the biogas sector worldwide since it was established 30 years ago. The 100th system is a milestone on a long road travelled, and an achievement of which we are very proud.”
The company has published an updated list of site references, highlighting some of the achievements along the way and detailing the feedstock from which the biogas was produced.
