Renewables technology start-up founder is a Rising Star at AD and Biogas Industry Awards

Kristina Rabecaite, Founder and CEO of tech start-up PPAYA Ltd, has won the coveted “AD Rising Star” Award at the AD and Biogas Industry Awards 2023. The company is known for its auction platform that connects renewable energy generators with utility suppliers, maximising the potential value of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).

The Anaerobic Digestion and Bioresources Association (ADBA) and the World Biogas Association (WBA) organise the AD and Biogas Industry Awards every year to celebrate innovation and excellence in the anaerobic digestion (AD) and biogas industry around the world.

Kristina was presented with the Award by Jean-Philippe Burtin, CEO of Recruitment Agency Borea, sponsors of the category, and Chris Huhne, ADBA Chairman at the AD and Biogas Industry Awards 2023 Awards ceremony in Birmingham on 29 March. PPAYA Ltd. also received a Highly Commended award in the “Best Anaerobic Digestion/Biogas Support Services (Professional)” category.

Kristina Rabecaite founded PPAYA in 2021, aged 27, after identifying a gap in the market for a fast, user-friendly, and stress-free renewable energy marketplace. Their unique software holds continuous daily auctions, ensuring no opportunity is ever missed for power producers (mostly farmers in PPAYA’s case). Compared to basic tendering, PPAYA tracks the market year-round, as striking deals on the right day at the right time can add between 10-20% additional value to a PPA contract. The simple technological solution connects energy generators with the largest utilities in the UK & Ireland.

Receiving the Award, Ms. Rabecaite said, “It’s an honour to have my work recognised by ADBA and WBA with the ‘Rising Star’ Award and a commendation for ‘Best Anaerobic Digestion/ Biogas Support Services). Since launching PPAYA, I have continuously strived to bring the business to where it is today. Receiving these prizes truly showcases our successful business growth as a technology start-up.”
