Investment Minister Graham Stuart MP has said that the government’s forthcoming Resources & Waste Strategy will “require separate food waste collections” to reduce emissions from landfill and produce renewable energy and natural fertiliser through anaerobic digestion (AD).
The UK’s trade body for anaerobic digestion (AD) has announced that it is recruiting a new Chair to lead the association into its second decade and to help deliver its vision to drive the growth of an industry that can reduce UK greenhouse gas emissions by close to 5%, improve its energy and food security, and create tens of thousands of jobs throughout the UK, with opportunities to export into a global market estimated to have a £1trn market potential.
Responding to the government’s ‘Growing The Bioeconomy’ strategy document published today, Charlotte Morton, Chief Executive of the Anaerobic Digestion & Bioresources Association (ADBA), said: “While it is encouraging to see ministers recognising the huge value that the bioeconomy can deliver to the UK, it’s disappointing that this strategy, which has been two years in the making, contains no new policies or funding that will help to actually achieve the important aims that the strategy sets out."
Responding to a speech made today by Environment Secretary Michael Gove, Charlotte Morton, Chief Executive of the Anaerobic Digestion & Bioresources Association (ADBA), said: "Michael Gove is absolutely right in everything he says about the scandal of food waste and the need for separate food waste collections to ensure that inedible food waste is recycled into renewable energy and natural fertiliser rather than being wasted in incineration or landfill."
ADBA Chief Executive Charlotte Morton outlines the benefits of the Anaerobic Digestion Certification Scheme for AD plant operators, regulators, funders, and the wider public.
The UK’s trade body for anaerobic digestion (AD) has joined a coalition of over 40 trade bodies, campaign groups, businesses, and local authorities that has called on government to “fast-track” the rollout of separate food waste collections across England.
A new World Biogas Summit will put anaerobic digestion (AD) and biogas at the heart of sustainable development and high on the agenda of politicians and policymakers in the UK and around the globe, according to joint organisers the World Biogas Association (WBA) and the UK Anaerobic Digestion & Bioresources Association (ADBA).
The Minister for Investment, the Chair of the EU Energy & Environment Sub-Committee, and the Chief Economist of the National Infrastructure Commission have been announced as the keynote speakers for the ADBA National Conference 2018.
Charlotte Morton, Chief Executive of the Anaerobic Digestion & Bioresources Association (ADBA), responds to the publication of the Committee on Climate Change’s (CCC’s) two new reports on land use and biomass.
