MEMBER’S PRESS RELEASE: CooperOstlund agrees CHP retrofit project with Anglian Water

Leading gas engine specification and maintenance expert, CooperOstlund, has announced a new supply agreement with Anglian Water. The contract will see state-of-the-art control panels retrofitted to five combined heat and power (CHP) systems at sites in Basildon, Whitlingham, Colchester and Great Billing.

Allowing engineers to easily control each setup without the need for specialist support, the panels will provide immediate digital access. A focus on off-site pre-build providing fast installation time will guarantee minimal engine downtime, while internet connectivity will reduce the need to visit site, reducing cost and improving uptime.

With two panels already installed, the remaining units will be fitted by CooperOstlund’s field service team over the coming weeks.

Graham Powell, CHP manager at Anglian Water Services, commented:

We needed an open protocol control panel solution, consistent across our UK CHP portfolio, to improve engineer access and provide system flexibility. As part of a competitive tender, CooperOstlund presented the ideal solution – delivering precisely against our requirements, while offering the added benefits of fast installation and minimal maintenance.

The CooperOstlund team has already demonstrated its speed, expertise and capability through the installation of the first two units. We’re confident that the full project will be completed on time and to the highest quality standards.

Stuart Cooper, director at CooperOstlund, added:

As the official UK distributor for the Storm Energy Management System (SEM), we have considerable experience in delivering retrofit products for a wide variety of CHP systems. In the case of Anglian Water, a mix of MWM and Jenbacher sets posed the requirement for a widely compatible control solution, uniform across multiple sites.

Unlike our competitors, we are completely independent. This means that each of our engineers are fully-qualified to specify, install, commission and maintain a wide variety of engine types from the world’s leading OEMs. Our offering is therefore impartial and ensures clients receive the most appropriate solution for their site requirements.

We are delighted to be working closely with Anglian Water and look forward to completing the project.

CooperOstlund provides gas engine design, installation and maintenance services for customers worldwide. The company delivers dynamic and cost-effective energy solutions, helping to pave the way for a carbon-free future.
