MeWa and PRM Waste Systems working together in the UK

The German plant manufacturer MeWa is consistently expanding its sales activities on the British recycling market. In order to satisfy the increasing recycling quota in the UK and growth in the area of biogas plants, MeWa will work together with Somerset-based PRM Waste Systems in the area of sales and services in the future.

With its available products, PRM Waste Systems already offers a wide range of solutions for the separation, handling, storage and transportation of waste flows. Its experience in the waste-management industry will be ideally complemented by the German manufacturer’s recycling solutions in the future. Moreover, PRM has a comprehensive service network throughout the UK.

For 30 years, MeWa Recycling Maschinen und Anlagenbau GmbH, whose headquarters are in Schwarzwald, Germany, has developed and constructed nine different types of shredders and turnkey recycling plants for a wide variety of applications. The company concentrates mainly on the processing of electrical and electronic scrap, refrigerators, metal compounds, household and industrial waste, used tyres and oil filters. In addition, the engineers are always developing special solutions for individual tasks for waste disposal businesses. MeWa holds patents for various recycling processes and has won great recognition from the British recycling market with its technologies.

Another of MeWa’s strengths lies in the technology used to prepare fermentation substrates for biogas plants. This alternative method of generating power is becoming more important in the UK. In order to prepare the fermentation substrates – such as restaurant waste, cattle and horse manure or even fuel crops – for the fermentation process, the industry needs powerful shredding and separation technology.

Both companies are expecting growing markets in the future. On the one hand, increasing recycling quotas have been established for quite some time in the UK, and the decreasing number of waste-disposal sites has also resulted in a greater need for recycling technology. Power generation using biogas plant has also been funded by the British government. As a result, the number of biogas plants will increase significantly over the next few years.
