Practical Guide to AD will help develop industry

Entrants to the growing anaerobic digestion (AD) and biogas sector will greatly benefit from the wealth of information in The Practical Guide to AD produced by the industry association ADBA and launched today [21 Dec].

The first guide of its kind to be launched in 25 years, The Practical Guide to AD offers up-to-date information on planning and permitting, health and safety, digestate standards, feedstock characteristics, design build and commissioning, as well as new topics for developing areas such as biomethane injection and use as a transport fuel. It is designed to help project developers, operators, equipment suppliers, regulators, financiers and anyone else with an interest in AD to develop their knowledge, and to signpost best practice.

Charlotte Morton, ADBA chief executive, said:

“The AD industry has a huge potential role to play in moving to a closed loop economy which makes the most of its resources. In order to achieve this potential the industry needs support and easy access to the wealth of information held within the sector. This is why we have worked with our members and working groups to produce this guide, to promote and disseminate good practice throughout the industry and providing a platform to develop further technical guidance as required.

I’d like to thank all those who have been involved in the production of the guide, in particular, Terry Brownhill, whose idea it was and who has project managed the process, the editorial, review and design teams, ADBA’s working group chairs as well as ADBA staff.

The preview edition is available for ADBA members to download today [21 Dec] from here with the First Edition (available to everyone) due for release in February.
