WRAP funding available for local authorities to promote food waste collections

Effective communications plays an important part in increasing the amount of food waste that is recycled.

To help demonstrate this and in support of the recently launched Food Waste Recycling Action Plan, WRAP is offering local authorities in England (excluding London) a funding opportunity to promote new separate weekly food waste collection services that have or will be launched this financial year. Local authorities who submit expressions of interest will be encouraged to speak to their recyclers and work closely with them to maximise the effectiveness of the communications campaign to the householder and participation rates.

AD operators who are discussing new food waste collection services with LA should highlight this funding opportunity and consider how they could work in collaboration with the LA to secure this funding.
