IGEM produces the technical standards for the industry on how to inject biomethane into the gas grid. In particular, IGEM/TD/16 – Biomethane Injection covers the requirements for design, construction, installation, inspection, testing, operation maintenence and de-commissioning of Biomethane Network Entry Faciltiies. IGEM/TD/17 – Biogas pipelines for distribution deals with the additional requirements for design, construction, inpsection, testing, operation and maintence of steels and polyethylene pipelines for the conveyance of biogas.

We also offer training on both of these standards and have recently developed a bespoke training programme for AD developers and operators on the wider aspects on gas safety and legislation in operating a biomethane site,

The Institution of Gas Engineers & Managers, IGEM, is the professional engineering institution supporting individuals and businesses working in the global gas industry. Our core role is to encourage the highest standards of professional competence amongst individuals working in gas. We help individuals stay up to date by delivering technical training. We support industry through the development of technical standards that are recognised around the world. We share knowledge and expertise amongst our members and the wider gas industry. We work across sectors to demonstrate the innovation taking place in the industry through networking events and conferences.
