Alice Tidswell — Consultant, SLR Consulting

Background:
I began my career in the London insurance market working with Lloyd’s of London syndicates and capital providers in catastrophe modelling and exposure management. Following this I undertook a Masters in Hydrology and Water Management at Newcastle University before moving to the engineering consultancy Atkins. At Atkins I advised clients across the infrastructure sector on water resource management, sustainable development, climate change adaptation and TCFD, supporting key infrastructure service providers in their regulatory reporting requirements and business planning. I also have an MSci in Earth Sciences from Imperial College London.

Client and Project Experience:
My most recent experience lies in climate change adaptation reporting, climate risk and resilience assessments for a range of large infrastructure service providers including energy generators, water & wastewater providers and transport network developers. I have worked closely with several organisations to deliver their third round of Adaptation Reporting Power (ARP3) reports in addition to leading on TCFD reporting, working with company executives to take a top-down approach to adhere to the TCFD recommendations and identify opportunities for improving corporate governance and strategy. I have also supported the Department for International Trade’s Business of Resilience taskforce Infrastructure and Investments sub-group in identifying key markets and commercial opportunities for UK insurance and resilience services, cumulating in a value proposition which was presented to prospective G20 countries and cities at the 2022 Business of Resilience conference.

Person I most admire:
Too many people to mention but I particularly admire those that speak out for what they believe in in the face of adversity. Anyone can take the easy path through life and stay silent, but it is those that choose the difficult road who enable real change.
