ADBA Scottish Conference

23 May, 2024 9:00AM - 5:00PM

Venue: P&J Arena, Aberdeen

Following ADBA’s very successful return to Scotland with our Scottish Conference last year at Dynamic Earth, we invite you to participate in the Anaerobic Digestion and Bioresources Association’s (ADBA) Scottish Conference on 23rd May at the P&J Arena in Aberdeen. Our events in Scotland and across the UK traditionally sell-out, and last year, included representatives from key stakeholders such as FDF Scotland, BP, Air Liquide, Veloia, Grissan, Agrivert, BioCapital, Engie, Total Energies amongst local AD plant operators and supply chain. And the three biggest parties in the Scottish Parliament all provided a speaker on the day of our event. We anticipate even greater interest this year, as investment in the sector ramps up in response to the challenges of climate, energy and food security.

With the publication of both the Scottish Government’s statutory draft Climate Change Plan and the Bioenergy Action Plan as well as the introduction of the Agriculture Bill to the Scottish Parliament, this is as an opportunity for you share and hear visions for our industry within the context of the Scottish Government’s net zero roadmap out to 2030 and ultimately 2045. This will help to build the necessary confidence to allow Scotland to capitalise on the evident investor interest. The brewing industry in Scotland has deployed anaerobic digestion (AD) with great success but very great potential remains across the farming and food sectors, and in relation to food waste.

A report by the Zemo Partnership and the NNFCC on behalf of Transport Scotland and Scottish Enterprise revealed that Scotland was utilising just half of its biomethane potential. Our industry has been confirmed by the IEA to grow – faster than nuclear – and can offer diverse solutions to a number of issues Scotland faces as it tackles the twin crises of climate and nature.
