Latest update on GGSS mid-scheme review
With the Green Gas Support Scheme’s (GGSS) mid-scheme review just around the corner, the government is considering multiple changes to address the issues that are affecting the deployment of new AD plants under the scheme. Among the issues, one of the major concerns that ADBA also has been raising with the government is the challenges securing the food waste feedstocks due to the delay in rolling out separate food waste collection policies.
The latest updates from the government suggest that these issues will be addressed in line with the mid-scheme review. The department intends to launch a public consultation on a number of proposed changes to the scheme including a proposal to extend the application deadline of the GGSS to 31 March 2026. The consultation further expects to collect stakeholder views on the development of a post-GGSS policy framework as well.
We are keeping an eye out for the consultation to come out in early 2023 and will reach out to gather your insights and opinions in due course.
In the meantime, please reach out to Wasundara via wasundara.doradeniya@adbioresources.org to raise any questions or concerns you have regarding the GGSS.
