Food waste vital to the circular economy
ADBA PRESS RELEASE
Welcoming the Environmental Services Association (ESA) report Going for Growth – A Practical Route to a Circular Economy, launched yesterday [Mon 10], Charlotte Morton, Chief Executive, ADBA said:
The government has recognised that AD realises the ‘greatest environmental benefit’ of any treatment option for food waste, but policy in England in particular fails to encourage councils and businesses to use separate food waste collections which are required if this is to be diverted from landfill to AD. It is good to see the ESA and the waste management industry advancing the debate on food waste recycling and recognising the vital part this plays in the circular economy.
The industry will discuss the role that anaerobic digestion can play in supporting the circular economy through recycling food waste at the UK’s only dedicated trade show, UK AD & Biogas 2013, 3-4 July, NEC Birmingham.
