ADBA Food Waste Working Group site visits for Local Authorities have been a major success
Over the summer, the ADBA Food Waste working group has hosted seven site visits to AD plants for local authorities across England, attracting 71 representatives from 42 different local councils.
In light of the anticipated announcement on separate food waste collections, the ADBA Food Waste Working Group planned a series of informative events for local authority officials to understand AD and why it is a crucial part of the circular economy for treating organic wastes.
In partnership with WRAP and volunteer plant operators, the days consisted of tours of the AD sites, presentations on the importance of AD for treating organic waste from the ADBA working group and WRAP on supporting local authorities in transitioning to collecting food waste separately, as well as lots of questions.
The series of visits have been welcomed by local authorities who are seeking to learn more about the AD industry, emphasising the importance of communication between the parties.
ADBA thanks the volunteers from the working group, the WRAP Local Authority Support team and the operators who have all been incredibly supportive in working together to host these events.
