MEMBER’S PRESS RELEASE: Triogen appoints BasePower as its UK agent

To boost the roll-out of Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) technology in the UK, European ORC supplier Triogen has appointed BasePower as its UK agent. ORC technology converts waste heat into renewable energy when added or retrofitted onto the exhausts of biogas, CHP (Combined Heat and Power) or landfill engines. This technology increases the plant’s electrical production by up to 8%.

Netherlands-based Triogen has developed and deployed over 30 ORC projects around Europe, generating an additional 5 MW of electricity which would otherwise have been squandered as waste heat.  Triogen chose new CHP systems provider BasePower as its UK agent because of the team’s sector expertise and experience in integrating CHP solutions that deliver energy cost-savings and improved environmental performance.

Marcel Borkent, Strategic Business Development, commented:

Triogen ORC is world class technology standardised into a reliable, innovative product that delivers rapid business benefits. The UK market is an important geography for us, not least because ORC technology is rarely deployed. We’re delighted to have BasePower as our agent, ensuring companies are able to take advantage of the financial and environmental benefits on offer.

Dan Poulson, BasePower’s Director added:

Installing the Triogen ORC increases the total electrical production to make a significant difference to a project’s profitability – or even its viability. With UK tariff regime changes putting pressure on the profitability of both new and existing deployments, we’re seeing strong interest from a range of sectors.

BasePower was appointed Triogen’s UK agent in January 2014.
