Location: SE1 7PB (Hybrid) Occassional Travel Required

Job Purpose

In line with our vision and mission, lead the coordination and implementation of membership retention and acquisition initiatives, campaigns, and projects for WBA and ADBA. The goal is to enhance membership value, drive revenue, foster loyalty, and achieve growth.

The successful candidate for the Membership Manager role possesses a proven track record in membership management and marketing, with specialised expertise in executing effective email marketing campaigns, leveraging strong industry knowledge, networking skills, financial acumen, and a commitment to continuous learning and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

The role of a Membership Manager involves a diverse set of responsibilities aimed at building and maintaining a strong membership base. These include:

Member Retention:

  • Establish and nurture strong relationships with existing members to ensure satisfaction and retention.
  • Implement initiatives to engage members, such as organising member meetings, webinars, and other events that add value to their membership.

Communication and Outreach:

  • Develop and execute communication plans to keep members informed about industry updates, association activities, and opportunities.
  • Act as a liaison between the association and its members, addressing inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.

Membership Recruitment:

  • Assist the Business Development and Marketing departments in developing and implementing strategies to attract new members to the association, including outreach campaigns and networking events.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to create compelling materials highlighting the benefits of membership.

Event Planning:

  • Assist in the coordination and execution of members only events to facilitate member interaction and promote industry knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure events align with the association’s objectives and provide value to members.

Database Management:

  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date membership database, including contact information, membership status, and other relevant details.
  • Utilise technology and software tools to streamline membership tracking and communication processes.

Benefits Administration:

  • Administer and communicate the benefits of association membership, ensuring members are aware of exclusive opportunities, resources, and services available to them.

Financial Management and Membership Renewals Processes:

  • Work closely with the finance team to manage membership renewals, invoicing, and payment processes.
  • Monitor and report on membership revenue and expenses, contributing to the financial health of the association.
  • Manage any at-risk membership relationships ensuring effective communication and strong loyalty.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Generate regular reports on membership metrics, trends, and engagement levels for senior leadership.
  • Conduct periodic assessments to identify areas for improvement and implement strategic adjustments accordingly.

Collaboration and Teamwork:

  • Collaborate with other teams within the association, such as marketing, policy, and technical to align efforts and achieve overall organisational goals.
  • Foster a sense of community and collaboration among members, encouraging participation in association initiatives.

Social Media Management:

  • Develop and implement a social media strategy to increase the association’s online presence.
  • Regularly update social media platforms with relevant content, news, and updates.
  • Engage with members and the broader community through social media channels to foster a sense of community and enhance brand visibility.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Membership Management: Proven track record in membership management roles ideally in a related industry or at a membership-driven organisation.
  • Digital Marketing: Experience in digital marketing, particularly within a membership-centric or sustainability-focused organisation.
  • B2B acumen with a knack for managing customer relationships and handling member queries.
  • CRM Software Proficiency:Practical experience using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software for membership database management and engagement strategies.
  • Email Marketing: Proven experience in designing and executing effective email membership campaigns, demonstrating proficiency in email platforms and analytics tools.
  • Social Media Management: Hands-on experience managing social media accounts for professional or organisational purposes, enhancing online presence and engagement.
  • An excellent team player, able to build relationships with colleagues at all levels.
  • Flexibility to work across multiple time zones.
  • Communication skills:Strong communication and presenting skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in hybrid teams.
  • Problem-Solving and Adaptability: Demonstrated ability to identify challenges related to membership and implement effective solutions.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills.
  • Fluency in English – any other additional language is a plus.
  • Passion for and experience in working with biogas, anaerobic digestion, climate change, climate finance and net zero

 

What we offer: Package Details

 

  • £35 – £38K pa
  • 25 days’ holiday + 1 additional day’s holiday near your birthday (This will increase by 1 day on every 2nd anniversary of your joining the Company up to a maximum of 27 days)
  • Contributory Pension
